Dana's First Birthday

Dana turned one on the 19th of February. We had her birthday party that weekend. I made the invites in Photoshop and printed out 5x7 photos to send out. The theme was Sesame Street.

Dana ususally gets up from her nap around 4:30, so I thought it might be a good time for the guest to arrive before she was up. This girl always wakes up so happy. She joined the party and immediately began warming the hearts of everyone there.

Harris on the other hand was woke up and he was cranky. It's usually not a good thing to wake him up, but I thought with a party he would be happy to see everyone. Wrong. He was cranky and cried a lot.

After everyone enjoyed some food and beverages, Dana opened her gifts. Brian took some pictures as I helped Dana open. My niece, nephew and cousins all helped open gifts too. I know it may be bad to say, but I really don't recall who gave Dana what. I've figured some of it out afterwards, but I still see a toy and wonder, "Who got her this?"

I think this car came from my parents. Both the kids love to play with it. It only took one day for Harris to push Dana off the single step between the dining room and the living room. She takes a tumble pretty well.

Dana had on a cute Elmo outfit that my friends gave her as a baby gift. It was a 12month and fit her perfectly for the party. She looked so cute.

I stripped off her clothes when it came time for the cake. She enjoyed being sang to, but was most interested in the cake.

Harris didn't enjoy the singing. I don't know why. He was just in a mood that evening.

Hmmmm....the first taste was pretty good.

She didn't waste any more time.

We served up cake and ice cream for all. I made an elmo cake and a cookie monster cake. I never did get a good picture, so the great photos below are courtesy of my Dad.

It was a great party. All the kids there loved the inflatable bouncer we had setup in the basement. It was a Christmas gift to the kids from Brian's parents and the kids love it. Usually the bouncer has only seen the action of Harris and Dana, but once the older kids got in there, it was rough. Everyone survived though and I'm sure will be back next year :)

February Photos

I know I haven't been very good at blogging often this year, but here's an attempt at catching up. Just some snapshots from the previous month. I'll put Dana's 1st birthday photos in a separate post.

We have been encouraging Harris to sit on the potty, but he really is not that interested in using it. He mostly just plays with his stuff and wants me to read books. I haven't really been forcing it, but I am so ready for this kid to be potty trained.




Jack loves that Dana throws food onto the floor. Most meals he just hangs out underneath her chair and patiently waits. However, she catching on to the idea that Jack wants her food. She'll throw it down for him and watch as he eats it up.


Dana's hair is always a mess. It is just such a fine texture. She loves to run her hands through it, especially during her meals. It gets pretty crusty at times.

We have a video with signing babies on it and her favorite song is BINGO. She loves to clap along.

Dana also loves to touch the buttons on the DVD player, receiver, etc.

She's ticked when I tell her "don't touch."

For Valentines Day, Brian came home with these Max and Ruby beanie babies for Harris. He loves the books and show with them. Brian's such a sweet and thoughtful Daddy.

Dana loves Jack. Her thrill in life is to chase him around the house and then grab a fistful of fur and hang on for dear life.

I'm not sure why I took this, but I think she's cute even when she gets fussy at times.
